CONSTRAINTS - 2001/2003

The twelve images from the constraints series are 11" x 11" silver gelatin prints with letterpress text.

The impetus for this project was on receiving my work permit and considering the benefits of being able to work again (intellectual challenge, responsibility, money etc.) and weighing these benefits against the constraints of the working life (time constraints, freedom curtailed, lack of daylight etc.).

Text image combinations reflected the dichotomy of the push-pull nature of constraint vs. benefit.
